Hello! My name is Mike Daily. I live in Portland, Ore. I'm working on a few projects based on poet Steve Richmond . . .

1) I'm writing a feature story specifically about Steve for a new Netherlands magazine and am looking for any anecdotes or comments from those who know him and his work. (Did you see the "Twilight of a Dope Fiend Poet" story/interview Ben Pleasants published on Hollywood Investigator in January 2007?

He is now living in Venice. Steve is, not Ben. Ben still lives in Beverly Hills.)
So far I've received great quotes from Ben Pleasants, John Martin, Gerald Locklin, A.D. Winans, Linda King, Ed Smith, Nila Northsun, Peter Magliocco, Mark Weber, Ann Menebroker, Abel Debritto, others.
My deadline for the story is October 15th.
I wrote the foreword to the added material to the 1994 Sun Dog Press reprint of Hitler Painted Roses (with Charles Bukowski's original foreword). I also published 33 of Steve's poems as the "center section" of my STOVEPiPER anthology in '94.
The story I'm working on is intended to be a positive piece complete with photographs, letter excerpts, and ephemera. It has Steve's full permission and cooperation.
2) I'm putting together a words/music project called MR VICED HONEST named after an anagram I made out of the name STEVE RICHMOND (similar to the MR MOJO RISIN anagram Jim Morrison made out of JIM MORRISON). They knew each other.

Jazz, he did say he really liked your piece.
I've been scanning in letters & pictures & what not. He said he may have to do it in chapters, as there's so much coming in. How kewl!

Steve was one of the first known poets I
heard from when I started River Rat Review
and we corresponded some. He sent me a
copy of Earth Rose, for free, out of the blue
one time. Those letters are somewhere.
I'll look around.
